All About Me!

Hello and welcome to Senior English! Many of you already know me since I have been working with the class of 2015 since you all were itty bitty freshmen. For those of you not yet in the know, here is some information about me.

My name is Ms. Gilpin (pronounced as it is spelled!) and I have been working at Thurgood Marshall Academy for going on 8 years now! I am considered a Resource teacher, but have degrees in English (Bachelors Degree, Binghamton University) and Students with Disabilities (Masters Degree, Hunter College). The class you are currently sitting in is more likely than not a mixed class, meaning that there are students who have IEPs and get extra accommodations. Regardless, I help anyone and everyone, so if there is any trouble in any aspect of your life, come to me!

I am in my mid to late twenties (NOT THIRTY!) and live outside the city in the county north of here, Westchester. My mother is Italian and my father is Scottish, but I identify with my Italian side more because I live around all my Italian family. I have a brother who is 11 years younger than me and is currently in his first year of college at SUNY Delhi.

I enjoy doing many things besides teaching, including reading, traveling, singing, football (especially the Washington Redskins!), reading, my adorable dog, volunteering, reading, throwing parties, cooking and reading. Yes, I like to read a lot! If you ever want/need book suggestions, I am the one to go to!

I will post a new blog entry every time I start to read a new book, just in case you are interested and looking for some suggestions!

And now for some pictures:

Hope everyone has a good year and leaves TMA excited and prepared for college!!
